Manufacturing Manager
Sheffield
I started as a ‘van lad’ in September 1986. Fletchers used to have a fleet of vans which delivered to small shops locally, and each driver had a van lad to help on their rounds.
I joined because it was a successful local business, and I already had family working there. At 18 years old I moved off the vans into the bakery, learning Operations through a variety of roles, before getting the position of Production Manager in 2005. In 2010, I became Manufacturing Manager, looking after the American muffins, English muffins, scones, baguettes and cupcake lines.
The people are the best thing about working here, and I enjoy the fact that we can manage our own areas and make decisions. Every day is different, which keeps my role interesting, even after all the years I have been here.
