Continuous Improvement Manager
London
I joined Grain D’Or in July 2011, straight after my Master’s in Advanced Manufacturing Systems, because it gave the opportunity to start as a manufacturing graduate. This meant I was able to use what I’d learned on my academic course and learn new skills on the job. I’ve worked alongside heads of other departments, from goods receipt to despatching, to learn how each department works, and how what they do supports the business.
I’m in constant contact with staff on the shop floor to review changes in the production process. We carry out daily meetings reviewing performance and quality standards, and to discuss possible improvements with all departments, but especially in engineering. For me, the most important aspect of continuous improvement is educating people about Good Manufacturing Practice. I’m also part of the HACCP team looking after food safety.
We have a strong team that enjoys working together, and we’re all always looking for ways to improve how we do things.
